Who I Am

Hello, I’m Chris — a software and solutions engineer based in the Bay Area. I graduated from UC Berkeley 🐻 with a B.A. in Computer Science.

The Day Job

Solutions Engineering is the honest answer, but that doesn’t mean I’ve stepped away from the code editor. I’ve written React components that made designers happy, Django endpoints that made no one happy, and AWS configurations that made my wallet cry. Lately I’ve been deep in the LLM space, building AI automation pipelines, wiring up Claude, and generally trying to get models to do useful things instead of confidently wrong things. Give me a codebase I’ve never seen and I will get it to work, even through the tears.

These days, more troubleshooting problems and getting Jira tickets out of my queue as fast as possible, but always happy to dive deep into any and all aspects of software.

Outside the Editor

  • Fixing friction. If something in my life is annoying, I will try to engineer my way out of it — sometimes with software, sometimes with a jerry-rigged mechanical contraption that has no business working. My “homelab” of repurposed hardware is where a lot of this happens: self-hosting, networking experiments, and projects like an alarm clock for my Roku TV (because apparently I needed that to exist). It’s part hobby, part messing around, and part “I can’t believe this actually works lol.”
  • Films. I watch a lot of them. Recommendations are always welcome. New and old.
  • Reading. Mostly cyberpunk and historical fiction these days.
  • Lifting. The one place where putting things down and picking them back up counts as progress.
  • Guitar. Still practicing. My neighbors are very patient.
  • Non-Competitive Video Games. The days of pulling trickshots and climbing ranked ladders are over. I enjoy a good linear story game.
  • Learning. There’s always more to learn, and people to learn from. My favorite consumptive hobby.

I also write occasionally on Medium. Just a thought dump more than anything.
